Cordless Picture Light
The Concept is a patented, battery operated picture light that will illuminate art without unsightly electrical cords! The idea and design were inspired by a desire to overcome the two major show-stoppers (weak illumination and very low battery life) associated with previously available cordless picture lights.
It features a "warm white" fluorescent bulb, to efficiently provide superior color rendition and more then forty hours of use. This wall-or-frame mounted picture light, with an 11½" diffuser, uses four D-batteries and is available in several finishes. As the batteries are heavy, it is crucial that the shade is inserted into a well secured base and tightened. Constructed of heavy gauge material, the base and stem, if properly installed, are capable of handling the weight.
While the fixture can be frame or wall mounted, frame mounting is often the preferable choice. Provided a frame is made of wood and is of sufficient thickness to accommodate at least two screws, the frame works better by virtue of the screws having a solid object to accommodate them. Also, pictures tend to tilt over time and the picture light tilts with the frame, so the eye does not see a shift in angle between the light and the frame. Wall mount is perfectly suitable if one cannot mount the light to a frame, however, it is recommended that the plastic inserts provided be used as well as all three screws. For either mounting method, make sure to follow the installation instructions exactly. Remember to first detach the light from the base. Once the base has been secured and the picture rehung, the light can be slid back onto the base, and you are ready to enjoy the long-lasting unobtrusive illumination of your piece of art.
